General technology transfer

HERPC

This is a new class of electrical machine for the efficient conversion of DC power into AC. It has applications converting DC power to AC in HVDC distribution schemes. It also has applications in fuel cell power conditioning. Finally it can facilitate Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS). Papers presented at various IEEE power engingeering conferences are listed below.

Future Reports

Solid State Lighting – Market roll out and technology road map

Customer Refocus is interested in developing a report that will look at the vertical markets important to a sustained roll out of solid state lighting technology.  Our proposed list of vertical markets includes:

• Transport lighting (including Aerospace)
• Transport information systems
• Display backlights
• Horticultural production
• Medical light sources
• Architectural lighting/Low energy buildings
• Electrical load management & stability
• Emergency Lighting
• Off network lighting (includes a significant PV component)
• Security illumination (CCTV Night Vision – UK already dominates)

The aim of such a vertical market study will be to develop a technology road map that relates to market opportunity rather than available technology.  Such a road map will be a powerful guide for subscribers.
